Dr. Gerald Wickham is the Executive Director of Institutional Review and joined the ACGME in the fall of 2022. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Medical Education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Health Professions Education. Dr. Wickham most recently served with the Office of GME at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, overseeing accreditation and faculty professional development for 88 residency and fellowship program as Director of Strategic Initiatives. He hails from Wexford, Ireland, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ulster University, Northern Ireland; a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa; and a Doctorate in education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. He has completed post-doctoral and professional development training with Harvard-Macy, the Shapiro Institute, and MIT. Dr. Wickham is also a published poet.
