Guidance Statement on Competency-Based Medical Education during COVID-19 Residency and Fellowship Disruptions

The ACGME partnered with the certifying Boards to develop the following recommendations for competency-based medical education for residents and fellows.

Updated: Supplemental Guidance Regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, ACGME Accreditation, and Sponsoring Institution Emergency Categorization

The ACGME is issuing supplemental guidance regarding how a Sponsoring Institution’s days in Emergency Category status will be counted; protection of resident, fellow, and faculty member health and safety; and assessment of residents and fellows.

In response to the recent resurgence of COVID-19, the ACGME sent a letter to both presidential nominees, urging them to commit to accelerating the production of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect frontline health care workers, who include many members of the GME community.
