Sidney Kimmel Medical College Renames Award in Honor of ACGME CEO Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP

The first Thomas J. Nasca, M.D. Award for Distinguished Teaching and Dedication to Student Medical Education was presented June 1 at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College Class Day Program, named to honor Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP.

Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) recently renamed the award, sponsored by the Dean’s Office, in recognition of Dr. Nasca’s long-standing dedication to medical education and his service in various roles for Jefferson Health System, including as Dean of the medical college.

The award began in 1995 and is given to a faculty member of Thomas Jefferson University who exhibits greatness as a teacher in molding the character of his/her students, an appreciation of his/her students, intimate knowledge of subject matter, humility and unselfish service. Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine Nina Mingioni, MD, FACP received this year’s award.

“I am honored by this acknowledgment and proud to recognize Dr. Mingioni for her dedication to educating and inspiring her students,” said Dr. Nasca.

The annually-held Class Day Program this year honored 53 graduating students for their dedication to the profession.
